Introduction
Integrity, objectivity, and strict adherence to rigorous research methodologies are core values at IWSR Drinks Market Analysis Limited (“IWSR”). All research created by IWSR (“IWSR Research”), both syndicated (“Research”) and custom (“Custom Research”), is intended to be used internally by our clients (“Client(s)”). From time to time, clients and third parties seek to cite from the Research and/or Custom Research in internal and external materials. This Citation Policy (“Policy”) sets forth the rules for such usage.
- All use of IWSR Research is subject to IWSR’s review and approval (except as explicitly permitted in this Policy).
- Citation of IWSR’s Research is a Client privilege. IWSR reviews all non-Client requests on a case-by-case basis.
- IWSR reserves the right to change this Policy at any time without notice.
- IWSR reserves any and all rights to the IWSR Research including but not limited to the right to deny any and all uses of the IWSR Research.
Uses That Require IWSR’s Approval
- All external or commercial citation of IWSR Research, including without limitation:
- uses of the Research in advertisements, press releases, and sales collateral in all types of media; and
- uses of the Research in SEC filings or other legal documents.
- All full reproductions and/or distributions of the IWSR Research.
- All promotion, distribution, and reuse of IWSR content, including any use of IWSR’s logo, trademarks, or service marks, through any third party in all types of media.
- If a Client is uncertain about a particular use, they must seek IWSR’s approval.
Uses That Do Not Require IWSR’s Approval
- Members of the press may use portions of IWSR’s Research without IWSR’s approval only as explicitly permitted in this Policy.
How To Seek IWSR’s Approval
- Contact IWSR’s Marketing department at press@theiwsr.com.
- Provide the Marketing department with the full citation and context for your request.
- Include a draft copy of any press releases and other marketing materials, such as newsletters, email campaigns, direct mail, etc.
- IWSR aims to reply by email within two business days. Please note, this may be longer during busy periods.
- You can find a checklist that will assist you in gathering the necessary materials for the review process below.
Requirements Based On Content
I: Citation Policy: Regulations
- All IWSR Research, including IWSR News & Comment content accessed through the iwsr.com website, is proprietary to IWSR and subject to copyright and other intellectual property protections.
- All external or commercial citation of IWSR Research, is prohibited without IWSR’s express written permission.
- All citations must be limited in scope. Full reproduction of the IWSR Research is prohibited.
- All citations must come directly from the written IWSR Research, IWSR-approved data cuts, or IWSR webinars.
- IWSR analysts can provide verbal or direct quotes for client materials, providing it is obtained with confirmation from the Marketing department and is cited in accordance with this Policy.
- Graphs or data can be briefly summarised, when no corresponding text is available, within the appropriate context of, and reflecting the spirit of, the intended Research.
- Citations that negatively portray another company and/or its products or compares one company and/or its products with another may not be used.
- Graphical research analysis may be cited upon gaining IWSR’s approval.
- All citations of IWSR Research must be attributed in the following manner: Product title (where relevant), IWSR drinks market analysis, date.
- All citations must be based on IWSR Research published within the past 18 months, unless updated Research is available.
- When describing IWSR, the preferred language to use is “IWSR” or “the global authority on beverage alcohol data and intelligence”.
- It is not permitted to refer to the IWSR as “International Wine & Spirits Research” or other derivatives of its full name.
- IWSR and IWSR Research may not be referenced or appear in any Client boilerplates, nor can IWSR’s boilerplate be used in Client materials (excepting joint marketing approved in advance by IWSR).
- IWSR and IWSR Research may not appear in Client email signatures unless as part of joint marketing due to the joint production of any Custom Research (as defined below).
II: Commissioned Custom Research (otherwise referred to as consulting)
- All citations of custom Research, including, without limitation, commissioned research, custom surveys, custom studies, and/or findings within IWSR Research customised for the Client (“Custom Research“), are subject to this Policy and contractual limitations provided by IWSR. Each external citation or quotation of Custom Research must be submitted to and approved by IWSR.
- The Client must give IWSW the opportunity to review and approve the context and accuracy of any data/conclusions cited from Custom Research as part of this approval process.
- All citations must come directly from the Custom Research itself or IWSR marketing produced from it.
- All citations of Custom Research must be attributed to IWSR, and the citations must include the following attribution, as well as the date and title if applicable:
- “A commissioned study conducted by IWSR on behalf of (Client Name).”
- Custom Research may not be positioned in any way that implies IWSR is endorsing any Client, vendor or brand.
- Custom Research cannot appear to be jointly released or co-branded with the Client unless it is jointly produced IWSR Research. IWSR’s status as an independent research firm must be made clear.
- To cite from Custom Research that is not your own, you must provide clear evidence that the Client that commissioned the research provided written approval prior to you submitting it to IWSR for approval.
- All communications and marketing materials regarding Custom Research issued via social media applications, including but not limited to social networks and blogs, are subject to this Policy and must be approved by IWSR.
- Statements made by IWSR analysts/consultants during client webinars, podcasts, videos, or other recorded presentations associated with Custom Research may only be transcribed, translated, or otherwise cited if approval has been sought and granted by a member of the IWSR Marketing department or Custom Research team.
III: Social Media Content
- Third parties may cite non-comparative content from the public facing IWSR website theiwsr.com and other IWSR social channels provided the integrity of the posted content is maintained and the content is linked directly to the original source.
- All citations must come from content written within the past 18 months.
- Any requests to cite research content authored by IWSR analysts under their own social profile will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
- For proposed citations of IWSR Research within the Client’s social media, please refer to Section I, Citation Policy: Regulations, and Section II, Commissioned Custom Research above.
How to cite IWSR Research social media content:
- Each citation must clearly define the social channel (e.g., IWSR twitter, IWSR News & Comment).
- Each citation must state the date of the IWSR post.
- Each citation must include IWSR as the author of the post.
- Each citation must include the IWSR reference verbatim and link to the source/post in its entirety.
- Each blog citation must include the title of the original IWSR News & Comment post.
IV: IWSR Logo
- Use of the IWSR logo is a Client privilege.
- Use of the IWSR logo is subject to Citations review and approval.
- The IWSR logo may not be used in Client press releases or email signatures without prior approval from IWSR.
- The IWSR logo must not be used in an instance where it could be perceived as an endorsement.
- Clients may also use IWSR’s logo to promote analyst speaking engagements, provided that the logo is smaller and less prominently displayed than the logo of the company hosting the engagement and the use is approved in advance by IWSR.
- The IWSR logo must be used in adherence to the IWSR brand guidelines, which can be requested by emailing press@theiwsr.com
Requirements Based On Usage
V: Advertisements
- All citations must comply with Section I, Citation Policy: Regulations.
- Advertisements must not appear to be co-sponsored by IWSR. Services or products advertised must not appear to be endorsed by IWSR.
- All requests must include the location and placement of the advertisement during the review process.
VI: Press Releases
- All citations must comply with Section I, Citation Policy: Regulations.
- The IWSR logo may not be used in client press releases.
VII: Video/Multimedia
- All citations must comply with Section I, Citation Policy: Regulations.
- IWSR Consulting Video/Multimedia must comply with Section III, Custom Research.
- Citations of videos and webinars that mention specific companies and/or products may not be used; this includes use of company logos.
- Verbal quotes from the video may not be cited or re-purposed.
VIII: Webinar/Speaking Engagements
- All citations must comply with Section I, Citation Policy: Regulations.
- Clients may use IWSR’s logo to promote analyst speaking engagements, provided that the logo is smaller and less prominently displayed than the company hosting the engagement and the use is approved in advance by IWSR.
- IWSR’s presentation and webinar slides must contain IWSR’s copyright notice.
- If IWSR data or content is used in another organisation’s presentation or webinar the content must be appropriately sourced to IWSR.
- Citations of videos and webinars that mention specific companies and/or products may not be used without prior approval of IWSR.
- It must be clear that IWSR is a guest/featured speaker/presenter and the event is not being co-hosted or co-marketed in any way.
- IWSR Research presented, and statements made by IWSR analysts/consultants during client webinars, podcasts, videos, or other recorded presentations may not be transcribed, translated, or otherwise cited. Such recordings may only be replayed in their entirety, when both the audio and visual elements are presented together, and the appropriate replay rights have been acquired.
Violations
IWSR reserves the right to take action against Clients and third parties that are in violation of this Policy. Actions taken may include, without limitation, declining all citation requests from entities with active citations violations.

Citations Request Checklist
In order to assist our Clients with the citations process, we have created a checklist for their use. This checklist outlines the information and materials that the Marketing department needs to review a request.
- Have you included the company/organisation that this request is for?
- Is the above company an IWSR client? Please indicate in your request
- Have you provided the full context in which the IWSR citation will appear in? Examples of material include drafts of press releases, mock-ups of web pages, entire emails, banners, social media posts, entire white papers, etc. Please attach and send complete copies of the materials that will cite IWSR.
- Have you indicated what research from IWSR your material cites? Please include the full title and publication month/year. If the citations do not come from research published on the IWSR client portal, please send along the original source as well. If this material is related to an upcoming analyst engagement, have you indicated the analyst involved, as well as the type of engagement (e.g., a webinar, panel, event, video, etc.)?
- Have you included any additional comments regarding this request? If you have a specific time frame or special considerations, please indicate this in your request.
